Continuous Improvement
The “K”ARE Programme is our strategic plan to improve service quality through safety and organisational culture maturity.
Several employees were engaged early in this programme on both ship and shore side, to learn and contribute to prepare our organization for the mid-term goals, for future fleet expansion and to implement our values.
In “K”ARE we use what we call safety leadership to implement our zero major accident vision. This is different from safety management which is mostly focused on doing things right and by the book. Major accidents are reduced by certain behaviours in a team that deals with collaboration to spot human error and immediate action if seen.

“The goal of the “K”ARE programme is very clear: Improve our safety culture maturity and in doing so also improving the working environment for our employees – both ship and shore.”

Programme Lead – “K”ARE
“I will choose one behaviour, which is the heart of all the behaviours. ”I speak up” – this is the number one for me. Because in everything that we do, whatever it is, it all starts by speaking up.”
Joenel Benignos
4th Engineer
Feedback throughout the organisation for the “K”ARE programme, from staff both onboard and on-shore, has been very positive.
This feedback and the results we are already seeing fuels our dedication to continue the work that has already been done and to develop the programme further.
We are committed to always be in a position where we can truly say that we do everything we can to avoid incidents or accidents and to protect our people, our cargo and the environment.

“We can now clearly see ourselves in somebody’s shoes and understand the way they feel and react in different situations. A life changing chapter of our career that we will always be grateful.”
